Corn Season

Dear Shoppers,

Can’t believe it’s mid-August already! This means it’s corn season and what better way to enjoy this native crop than in a samosa made with roasted corn masala from Samosa Shack?

While you’re munching on that samosa, peruse the market and pick up some ears of corn. Keeping it simple on the grill is a great option but why not try one of these corn recipes from Food52? We’re particularly taken with Yotam Ottolenghi’s corn polenta with eggplant sauce-a perfect summer market dish.

Missed your morning crepe? Alex is back from his European vacation and looking forward to serving up his sweet and savory pastries.

The Knife Sharpener is also back, so bring any dull cutlery, gardening shears, or lawn mower blades to be sharpened while you shop.

Lastly, please remember your neighbors in need on Saturday at the Market and help fill our gleaning baskets with fresh produce. The Market Committee buys apples and eggs and delivers them, along with the gleaning, to the Hastings Food Pantry.

See you at the market!
