eat your peas!

if you can get some…that is.

I am always amazed at how quickly they disappear from the Taliaferro Farm display. No sooner has Pete Taliaferro Jr. finished unloading a crate on his table, they’re gone!
If you’re lucky enough to score some considering making this pea and mint spread. The perfect thing to slather on some Bien Cuit bread, maybe even with some crumbled goat cheese or ricotta, with a drizzle of honey or Kontoulis olive oil (here this week).  I, for one, plan to try this Saveur recipe  for sauteed cod on a bed of creamy peas.

Hosting a graduation party? Get all the cheese you need from our new cheese vendor Dobbs & Bishop Fine Cheese, and Painted Goat Farm.

Have you seen the “cone-head” cabbage Sun Sprout has been bringing to market?  Easy to shred and remarkably sweet. A good excuse to try this Mark Bittman recipe for teriyaki cabbage steaks
Sautéed Cod with Pea Cream

Speaking of cabbage, Brooklyn Kimchi is back this week, as is Bronx Baking CO. is back this week with their pillowy pretzels.

We have NEW T-shirts at the market and new MARKET BAGS as well. Make sure to stop by the tent and check them out! Buy a market tee for your high school grad as a soft reminder of home.

see you at the market!
