One of the things I have missed most during the pandemic is traveling. Or even looking forward to traveling. These days, the only way to experience an exotic culture is through the kitchen.

Enter Mama Lam's Malaysian Curry Pastes & Hot Sauces, visiting us this Saturday. Founder Cassandra Lam says their recipes were initially made by her grandmother in Kuala Lumpur. "She then passed those recipes onto my mother who would use them in curry noodle soup and in a curry chicken potato dish that my sister and I grew up on," says Cassandra.

Since 2016, they've been making their sauces, by hand, in small batches in Queens, NY. "Our mission is to bring our family’s recipes to the public, inspiring everyone to create their own passed-down recipes. Our curry pastes pair perfectly with sautéed chicken and roasted cauliflower, and our hot sauces are a great addition to any meal, most especially wings or stir-fried noodles." Take a stroll on their website for some inspiration, and to help you draft your market shopping list. (I, for one, am eyeing the Malaysian mussels recipe).

Since you're going to be cooking Malaysian over the weekend, treat yourself to a ready-made breakfast or lunch from Leila's Crepe Station, popping by this Saturday in their pretty crepe-colored truck. They will be parked where the Dough Nation Pizza Truck normally goes and their crepes (both savory and sweet) do not disappoint.

The Two Birds Broth Bar is open. Belly up to their tent on Saturday for a steaming cup of bone or mushroom broth with a shot of ginger or turmeric.
Just the nutritious ticket if election anxiety is wearing you down.

Stoneberry Farm just harvested some hot pink napa cabbage. A zesty Asian slaw comes to mind. But given that the end of Daylight Savings is upon us, this creamy cabbage and bacon gratin might not be a bad idea. Speaking of comfort food...

I haven't mentioned Noble Pies in a while. This is their busy season and they are cranking. I will let the picture below do the talking.

Thanksgiving is just around the corner... don't forget to order your turkey from R&M Farm. There's a bonus if you do it this week: Ryan himself will be manning the booth to give Josh a much needed day off. Ryan has not been to the market since his daughter Harper was born in June. In the spirit of keeping the line moving on Saturday...I am posting a recent picture of her so Ryan doesn't have to.  You're welcome.

We miss all of our talented musicians, but especially our house band, Milton. I am happy to report that Milton will be performing THIS Saturday at The Good Witch Coffee Bar from 10 to noon. Hopefully, their sound will travel.

See you at the market!
