In the spring of 2018, the Market partnered with the Hastings Conservation Commission, and the Village of Hastings Department of Public Works (DPW), to introduce food scrap recycling for composting. The program was such a huge success that it had to move twice
to accommodate the volume of food scraps.
Collection is now at the Hastings-on-Hudson Department of Public Works on Southside Avenue, less than half a mile from the Market.
We continue our commitment to limiting - and eventually eliminating - waste. To that end, most of our prepared food vendors have transitioned to compostable serviceware and there are bins at the Market where you can dispose of food scraps and the servicewear. We ask our shoppers to please join us in working towards a more sustainable Market.
