HFM pop-up market this Saturday, 5/28 Surprise!
So we're having a market on Saturday. We decided we couldn't let you kick off the grilling season without something from the market to throw on the grill, right?
Since this market was a spontaneous idea, we're going to be a bit smaller than usual. But look at the vendor list: we've covered all the bases, from fish and steak, to produce, cheese and spirits. Stoneberry Farm is joining us one week early. And, Don Carvajal is bringing their fantastic espresso machine. Plus some additional frills, as is our wont, like cherry blossom ice pops from Mom & Ice Pops.
We'll even have aprons fashioned from vintage tea towels from Ztudio Zsa Zsa to keep you looking stylish as you flip your burgers. So scrub down that grill and make some chimichurri and your favorite potato salad. This particular potato salad recipe calls for watercress which you can find in beautiful, frilly bunches at the Sun Sprout Farm tent. Here's the best part for those of you who feel nostalgic about our old location with its magical views. Since we will be a smaller market we are setting up in the Library Lot.
The views are great, yes, but what we really miss about that location is watching all the kids file into the library to play on the giant checkers board or grab a book and read while their parents shopped for turnips and tomatoes at the market. Such a lovely synergy.
The Friends of the Library will have a table at the market this Saturday to sell tickets for their annual gala fundraiser, "Once Upon a Musical" which returns after a two-year absence on Sunday, June 5th, from 5-8 p.m. This year, the fundraiser is winkingly subtitled “Out of the Woods.” Part cocktail party, part Broadway cabaret, it’s a delightful way to support an institution that, much like the Market, sustains our community. Get your $30 gala tickets (they’ll be $40 at the door) at the Friends’ table, and be sure to stop by the library to bid on an array of fabulous items in the silent auction currently on display in the “lobby.” You can also buy your ticket via paypal if you are short on time.
And in other good news, Ryan and Mel of R & M Farm, have just had another baby girl, Kyla Mae Ostertag, was born “quickly” May 22, weighing in at 8.4 oz and 21.5 inches long. “It was really fast,” says Ryan. “We got to the hospital and within five minutes of being in the room, she was born.”
See you at the Market!
