Serendipity at the Market

This weekend, we are the beneficiaries of a happy confluence of events: many of our one-visit-per-month vendors will be with us. Yes, we will be stuffed to the gills and making use of every available inch of our parking lot, but what a wonderful problem to have!

Who’s joining us, you ask? Well, Bombay Chutney is back after Nirmala’s knee surgery and long recovery. Oh, how we’ve missed you! Life just isn’t the same without your delicate roti and divine Mint Chutney! River Valley Community Grains, who got their market feet wet with us here at Hastings and have since ventured into other Morning Glory Markets, is back. My friend Maddali swears by their Natural Einkorn Flour for her homemade pizza dough. And I swear by her pizza dough! Momo Dressing is also making an appearance; our summer salads and grilled veggies have lacked luster since we ran short on their Sesame Dressing.

1, 2, 3 Dough, creators of the best Organic Sourdough Breads around, will be with us. Stop by early, they have a habit of selling out! Freefall Sangria was, as you know, at the market last weekend, but that was a fifth Saturday, so luckily for us, they’re back again this week. Red, white, or mule; the party starts in their tent! Of course, if you prefer your libations non-alcoholic, Om Champagne Tea’s naturally effervescent, probiotic tonics are just the thing on a hot summer day. And new market favorite food truck, XOLO, offers unique, tasty, and VEGAN interpretations of Mexican favorites.

In addition to the above excitement, you know you can count on our stalwart market regulars to bring what you need to have a happy and nutritious week. Market tables are laden with the very best Hudson Valley produce direct from the fertile fields of these farmers: Sun Sprout, Morgiewicz, Orchard of Concklin, Stoneberry, Harlem Valley Homestead, Madura Mushrooms, and Wrights Orchard. Zucchini is coming in fast and furious, grab yourself a generous amount and try this simple side: You can pick up herbs at your favorite farm stall and add honey from Hudson River Apiaries.

Celebrate reaching August, and the dog days of summer, with an artisanal ice cream sandwich from Luxx Chocolat: handcrafted ice cream sandwiched between two crunchy salted caramel wafers, slathered in award-winning caramel, fine dark chocolate, and kissed with Sicilian Trapani sea salt. Or perhaps a Mom & Ice Pops Lime Lavender icy treat is more your jam? No judgment!

See you at the market!
