Food with good feels

This week, in light of recent events, we’ll keep the chit chat to a minimum and, instead, offer a list of recipes that are good for the soul. We could all use a big dose of comfort right now.

Here are a few recipes to cozy up to this week:

1.  Serve this creamy butternut squash polenta on its own or with lamb sausage from Wil-Hi Farm.

2.  Nothing soothes the soul like a perfectly roasted chicken. If you're going to roast a chicken, use Julia's recipe and R&M or Great Joy Farm’s whole chicken.

3. Or, for something less traditional, how about a big bowl of Indian butter chicken served with rice from Great Joy Farm? (p.s. Have you seen their thick bouquets of rice flowers? Exquisite!). Get all your spices from Muru over at the Food is Med tent.

4. Belly-warming chicken noodle soup is the ultimate salve. Use carrots and celery from Morgiewicz Produce.

5. This Dijon and Cognac beef stew  is perfect for what ails us. Serve with mashed potatoes or egg noodles. Invite friends. Make honey lemon olive-oil cake for dessert.

Buy a Fleur Piton candle to fill your home with soothing scents. And pick up some extra honey to make hot toddie with whiskey from Springbrook Hollow Farm, or to lace your Teagevity “Love” Tea.

Don’t have the spirit to cook right now? No Place Like Home will be whipping up their popular paella and offering their fall tortilla española with sweet potato and onion. Homespun Chili has a chili variation to satisfy everyone in your family.

Please note that the Village of Hastings and the Conservation Commission will be hosting an Electrical Vehicle event at the market.

We hope to see you there!
