Blue skies (and grapes) on tap for Saturday!

Well, last weekend was a wet mess. Thanks to all the shoppers who came out in the rain. Some of our vendors opted to stay home, the forecast was so dire. It takes a lot to keep Morgiewicz Produce away but the threat of 50 mph did just that. Fortunately the winds never materialized.

As if farming weren’t challenging enough, faulty forecasts really don’t help. The good news is that many of our vendors who canceled last week have rescheduled for this week: Danielle Lutsky, of Plantidote, purveyor of THE BEST veggie burgers around, is squeezing in one last visit before she has her baby. And The Spirits Lab is also coming to make your weekend entertaining that much easier with their pre-mixed cocktails in a sexy bottle.

What else to look forward to at the market this week?

Blue-ish purple Concord grapes. Think their main appeal is to look fetching on a cheese board? Think again. This cold-resistant grape has a coarse flavor, often described as "foxy" which is why it's often paired with strong earthy flavors like rosemary, as in this recipe for Concord grape cornbread with rosemary whipped cream for something different.

Make a Concord grape shrub which you can also use as base for a cocktail as David Lebovitz does in this recipe. Or make fall-inspired crostini! You can also make grape jelly to elevate your pb & j’s.

The flower bunches at Sea Change Flower & Farm are looking so beautiful right now. The lovely Maggie in her floral blouses won’t be coming to the market much longer so make sure to treat yourself to a bouquet this weekend!

Is your skin sensitive to the cold? Stock up on botanical soaps and skin care from Ash Hopper.

It’s not even October yet, but we know some of you are already planning your Thanksgiving feasts. R&M FARM is now taking orders for turkeys so get your order in early!

Chick’s Candy Store will be in the music tent this week.

See you at the market!
