So, under normal circumstances, our sweet market along the Hudson would be closed this weekend. Our staff and volunteers would enjoy a rare Saturday morning lie-in and a weeklong break to prepare for our busy SUMMER market season which has always begun on the first Saturday in June.

This year, the days blend into weeks, the weeks blend into months and the markets are all busy. So this Saturday will be like every other day and, it is our pleasure to stay open and bring you a sampling of what the beautiful Hudson Valley area has to offer.

Stoneberry Farm is coming to join us, a week ahead of schedule. Farmers Hunter and Connor are eager to get back to the market with their pretty radishes stacked in pretty wooden boxes.

Don Carvajal Cafe is officially joining us on a weekly basis as of this Saturday. Owner Hector Castillo is a member of the Rainforest Alliance and as such buys beans only from farms that are socially and environmentally responsible. They also happen to be robust in favor. As per NY Farmer's Market Federation guidelines, you will have to allow Hector or his staff to add milk/oat milk/sugar etc. to your coffee for you. Thanks for understanding.

We have a new guest vendor this week: Springbrook Valley Distillery, a small-batch distillery from the Lake George area. Most of their ingredients, right down to water, are sourced locally. Their signature bourbon is a High Rye Bourbon - a mash of 56% Corn, 32% Rye, and 12% Malted Barley.

I leave you with a very long list of unique asparagus recipes from Food & Wine, since these spears, some thick, some slender, are having their heydey at the market right now. The  recipes for asparagus tempura and the bok choy and asparagus frittata caught my eye, namely because beautiful bok choy has also been a market mainstay this spring.

We wish you a lovely rest of the week and look forward to seeing you on Saturday!
