Are you the kind of person who would rather wait for Mother Nature to melt the snow off your car than shovel? After all, she got us into this mess...

Then, this is a good week for pantry recipes - recipes that call for staple ingredients you are likely to have at home, so, no need to drive or schlep through the banquise for ingredients.

Since we had a market last week, here's hoping you still have a few eggs on hand or this cool pantry ramen carbonara.

If you have some of Growing Hearts mustard greens leftover, throw them into this recipe for pasta e ceci, instead of the escarole it traditionally calls for. You could also use baby kale from Sun Sprout Farms. Do yourself a favor and read the comments for recipe tweaks, but also for a good laugh (cooking with "Agatha" sounds like a hoot).

I'm so pleased to inform you that there's a NOO peanut butter in town. Noomi Peanut Butter, made with organic dry-roasted peanuts, organic dates and Atlantic sea salt, joins our ranks this week. The spread perfectly balances salt and sweet. And it's made right here in Westchester. Make sure to stop by and give this new vendor a warm Hastings welcome.

Also very happy to announce that the Hastings Farmers Market did make the second round of the BOW ("Best of Westchester") competition. Not nearly as happy as I'll be if we win. So won't you please vote right now to push us into the next round? The deadline of Feb. 8th will be here before you know it. Best Farmer's Market is Category 10.

Think the snow is heavy? Try lifting a banana cream pie from Noble Pies. Made just like their Texan grandmother Fahler used to make it: a solid bottom crust, a layer of homemade vanilla pudding, sliced banana, more pudding, sliced banana, and, yes, more pudding. Freshly whipped cream adorns its crimped edges. Noble's savory pie of the week takes us straight to the heart of Miami, just when we need it most: Cubano Pie, inspired by traditional Cubano sandwiches, with slow-roasted pulled pork in a mojo marinade. You gotta love the swaying palm tree on the top crust.

A reminder that Orchard Hill does have organic apples in small amounts. Don't forget to ask Jeff about them when you're buying one of their head-turning salads.

Silvia's Kitchen is thinking ahead to Valentine's Day and bringing heart-shaped alfajores among other sweets to celebrate (spark?) romance in a pandemic. La Petite Occasion and Luxx Chocolat also have your back, Romeo!

See you at the market – where it should be far more pleasant than last week!
