Your Port in any Storm

We’re delighted to let you know that DoughCo Bagels is back with us! Please stop by early, before Josh sells out. As to the aforementioned libations: also rejoining us is Annie’s Ginger Elixir, whose sharp potion is just the thing to have on hand as we enter cold and flu season. You’ll feel healthier from the very first sip! If you’re also in the market for an adult beverage, Neversink Spirits and Manor Sangria have got you covered. Neversink’s Apple Aperitif starts with brandy aged for a year which is then blended with bittersweet cider pressed from heirloom apples. So good it was recently written up in the Wall Street Journal as a must-have sweater weather sipper.

And Manor will have their special Holiday Blend sangria, made with fresh cranberries and a hint of cinnamon which can be drunk hot or cold. And, fyi, you don’t have to choose between your ginger tonic and your adult beverage. Annie strongly suggests putting a shot of her elixir in your favorite cocktail. And in your children’s juice, too.

We’re very excited to announce the addition of a new food truck to our line-up. The Fearless Cook debuts on Saturday with a range of locally-sourced and oh-so-delicious Moroccan plates. Their wood-fired specialties include a local beef tagine, North African spiced carrots and parsnips, vegetable tagine, wood-fired flat bread, apricot and onion chutney, and a harissa and ginger spice cake with cashew and raisin cream. Also on offer? Hot chaider (chai with apple cider). Still not satisfied? They’ll also have bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches on biscuits, with a gluten-free option available.

And now on to the meat and potatoes (pun fully intended) of the market. Sun Sprout’s napa cabbage and Honey Nut Squashes are simply divine. I roast the delightful little squashes whole, let them cool as long as I can wait, then devour them whole. You may drizzle them with honey, or I’ve dolloped them with honey and I’ve also dolloped them with queso fresco from McGrath Cheese. Visit your favorite farmer for butternut squash and red onions to whip up this satisfying Yotam Ottolenghi recipe. Be sure to visit Harlem Valley Homestead’s tent and check out special special offers on their pastured meats!

Satisfy your sweet tooth with a stop at Marcelina Orange or La Petite Occasion. If you can keep yourself from eating them first, Dora’s dark-chocolate dipped candied orange peels or Michele’s award-winning caramels make great hostess gifts. Or maybe buy several bags of each?? Also great for hostess gifts for upcoming holiday gatherings: a piece of Chloe Sikirica Pottery. Whether it’s a colorful pendant necklace, serving platter, or vase, Chloe’s creations are unique, functional, and a lot of fun!
