Almost spring!

Here at the market, we’re rejoicing in warmer temperatures and more hours of daylight. Spring may not yet be sprung, but it’s certainly in the act of springing. Hooray!

Join us on Saturday to find all your favorite vendors and one or two occasional visitors.

(Spoiler alert: Shimon of Raw Chocolate Love is just back from visiting his mom in Israel and ready to join us with his pure, organic chocolate bars.

Show your love for Ukranian culture this weekend by cooking Halupki. Pick up the required lean ground beef and pork from R&M Farms or Harlem Valley Homestead. Sun Sprout and 4E Farms offer sturdy yet tender cabbage that’s just perfect for wrapping the hearty and piquant filling.

If you haven’t yet stopped by the Cooper’s Daughter tent, you owe yourself a visit! On offer? How about a Smoked Maple Bourbon, with its slightly round, smooth flavors and a light hint of smoke. It makes for the perfect still-chilly spring day companion, snuggled under an afghan, or sitting in front of a wood burning stove.

Charlotte’s Home Kitchen is making a special late winter market appearance. Don’t miss Charlotte’s Earl Grey Honey Cake, with a combination of Earl Grey, apples, zucchini, and honey. She has two new cakes for spring: one is a matcha jasmine with vanilla buttercream topped with a sour golden berry and the other is a strawberry basil cake with pink peppercorns It’s very hard for me to believe that her heavenly creations are both egg and dairy free!

You’ve already shown them a lot of Hastings love, but don’t forget to visit River Valley Community Grain. Lenny’s a very friendly man with a warm smile, and the company’s mission is unimpeachable: operating out of Long Valley, NY, they roll oats, stone-mill wheat into flour, and prepare orders for the website and farmers markets, all while continuing to adhere to the mantra of collaboration and regeneration. Local and restorative agriculture, a truly winning combination.

Not to harp on the alcohol, but two summer vendors are popping in on Saturday: Heimat Liquors and KAS Spirits. You know and love Heimat’s smooth and unusual liquor, with flavors like Nectarine, Rhubarb, and Elderberry (all made with local fruit, natch). Enjoy them solo, splashed into champagne, or wherever your imagination leads you. Sadly, KAS Spirits is ceasing operations in late spring. Whether you prefer their traditional Krupnikas or you’re a Black Locust KAS fan, you’ll want to stock up now. Also, if you want something festive to drink that isn't a spirit, consider picking up some of OM Champagne Tea's turmeric kombucha.

See you at the market!
