Bonus Market!
We really aren't trying to confuse you. Just when you thought you were getting the hang of the first and third Saturday winter market schedule, we drop an extra market on you to throw you off.
Yes, this coming Saturday is indeed a FIFTH Saturday in the month and, yet, we are OPEN.
That’s because we, like you, couldn’t imagine ringing in 2024 without some of our favorite market staples and this extra Saturday in the month meant you'd have to wait a long time before the next market. Too long. You’re welcome!
Most of our regular vendors will be there with a few exceptions and some nice additions. Great Joy Farm will be filling in for Sun Sprout Farm. We’ve invited OM Champagne Tea because a range of bubbles is de rigueur this weekend.
Whether you’re celebrating quietly and soberly with a bowl of “lucky” stewed lentils with sausage, or hosting a big shindig with a brimming buffet table, you should find much of what you need at the market.
Make sure to stock up on plenty of Annie’s Ginger Elixir if the excesses of the holiday season have you eager to start the New Year eating and drinking clean.
Meredith’s Breads cannot attend Saturday, but Charlotte Boyle, of Charlotte’s Home Kitchen, joins us with her disarmingly delicious gluten-free, dairy-free cakes almost too pretty to eat.
Pick up one of her festive New Year’s festive cookie boxes, which includes her Millionaire shortbread, pistachio rosé shortbread and salted-cacao nib cookies, too. She’ll be packing her most popular GF cakes: love, Indian sunset, remembrance, cacao and passion as well as her ever-popular chocolate, carrot, pistachio blackberry, and London fog vegan cakes, too.
Is 2024 your year to try new things? Pick up some of Silvia’s Kitchen alfajores for your dessert table.
Still haven’t tried the prehistoric-looking Romesco cauliflower at the Madura Farms tent? So delicious slow-roasted with lemon, garlic and olive oil.
If you’re a fan of the cauliflower piccata at Boro 6 (and who isn’t?) try your hand at this roasted cauliflower with herbed tahini cream.
Plantidote is in the house! No matter how many of her plant-based burgers Danielle brings she still manages to sell out. So hit her up early! Ditto for the folks at White Moustache Yogurt. They had to miss the last market so I can only imagine the pent-up demand.
If you’re hosting a party and need some easy ready-made deliciousness, stop by the Anthi's tent for spanakopita or Escargot Voyageur for some leek and bacon quiches which you can cut up into quarters for a passed hors-d'oeuvre.
Daniel, of Larchmont Charcuterie, had hoped to come this Saturday but sold out of most of his inventory at the two earlier December markets. Some of his saucisson sec offerings are being sold at the Escargot Voyageur tent. (Those Frenchies really do like to stick together.)
Anish Supreme Foods has lots of fantastic, unusual baked goods like their feta tahini breads for your holiday table or your January 1 breakfast.
We’re thrilled to have Raw Chocolate Love back at the Hastings Farmers Market. Shimon will be stirring up some hot chocolate with almond milk, made with his pure, unadulterated chocolate which comes in bars of all sizes and in flavors like chili, Earl grey and oat milk macchiato.
We regret that Josh Small, of Dough Co Bagels is taking some much-needed time off. In their absence, consider putting some of Hudson Valley Fisheries smoked trout on a slice of Bien Cuit toasted pain de mie instead of a bagel. Blasphemy or epiphany? You decide.
On behalf of the market, we want to wish you a peaceful end to 2023, the year in which we celebrated our 25th Anniversary. Thanks to all who celebrated with us in so many different ways all season long.
We wish you health and happiness and many cozy, market-driven meals in 2024. We hope 2024 brings you peace, health, happiness and lots of home-cooked meals.
