Grill to your heart's content this weekend!
This is it...the last big grilling weekend of our market season. Of course, some die-hards keep the grill going all winter long. But most of us give the old Weber a proper scrub right after Labor Day barbecues.
So make the most of your grill this weekend and try these yakitori-style salmon and zucchini skewers which are sure to wow your guests. Or pick out some of the beautiful eggplant at the market and make these charred-eggplant-with-spicy-tomato-sauce. Serve with sweet Iberian pork brats from Goode & Local or go all out and grill up some R & M porterhouse .
Want something refreshing to drink while you grill? OM Champagne Tea is here this week with their premium sparkling kombucha.
Noble Pies is kicking off apple season with fresh apple pies made with Zestar and Ginger Gold Apples, so dessert is taken care of. Or, since it's also blackberry season, you can make your own drop biscuit cobbler.
In addition to being a big grilling weekend, Labor Day marks the shift from the carefree days of summer to the highly-scheduled school days of September.
The transition can be rough. Meal planning helps. Let our vendors inspire your weeknight meals, from Greek sheet pan chicken with chicken from R &M Farm to mojo meatballs with ground pork also, from R & M Farm, to easy, quality ravioli from La Trafila or dumplings from Asian Farmer Dumplings, also back this week.
We are so happy to have Marcelina Orange back in our vendor mix as well. Dora's chocolate-covered orange peels and marmalade should make the back-to-school transition a bit more palatable.
Don't forget to pick up some Yellow Jackets merch this weekend from the PTSA tent. And, your trusty school calendar - a must! Both will be available at the market this week and next.
A gentle reminder that there are lunchboxes in your future: may we suggest some grapes and just-picked apples from Concklins. And, of course, sliced bread from Wave Hill and Cooperstown and McGrath cheese for sandwiches. Wright's Farm's Raspberry applesauce makes a great after school snack for kids. Just sayin'.
Can't think of a better band to usher in September than Milton.
See you at the market!
