Market Hosts 'Glean on Me' Fresh Food Collection

dear shoppers,  This Saturday is the Glean on Me time of the month, when the Hastings Farmers Market Committee collects fresh produce for the Village food pantry. I am writing to ask you to buy apples, potatoes, sweet potatoes, onions, carrots and greens for our neighbors in need. Gleaning baskets will be available to place your donations.

One result of the A&P closing is that 40 households (up from 25) are now visiting the food pantry to gather canned and packaged goods to sustain themselves. How wonderful that we can add to that fresh produce to make that sustenance more healthful!

This week, in addition to our usual donation of 20 dozen eggs to the pantry, the Market Committee will match the donations provided by our customers.

Look for the baskets labeled "Glean on Me," on Saturday at the Community Center.
