I love it when someone stops me on the street to tell me how delicious their market baby lettuce was the night before.
"From which farm?" I always ask.
"You know, the one in the back."
In our current COVID location, that would be Stoneberry Farm, now relocated under the bridge where the shade is plentiful.
It takes a couple of weeks into the new season for vendors to find their permanent spot and that can be confusing for shoppers who only recognize vendors by location, not by name. I get it.
So I am letting you know now that Harlem Valley Homestead will be moving to a spot with more shade to protect their mushrooms, and produce this week. You can find them where Meredith's had been setting up since March. Meredith's has now moved to the "upper level" closer to Cropsy and across from Stoneberry.
You keeping up? One day, when there is more time we will design a market map. One day.
Some good news about Painted Goat Cheese.
They will be returning to their first and third Saturday of the month schedule so will be back at market on June 20th. However, because cheesemaker Ilyssa Berg needs to ship her cheese from the farm upstate to get it to market, pre-orders must happen this week for NEXT week's market. So as you pre-order from your favorite vendors for this week's shop, make sure to order some creamy feta or an ash-coated pyramid cheese for pick up the following Saturday.
Springbrook Hollow Farm Distillery created quite a buzz when they were here last so we are happy they are back this Saturday to help you stock your bar for your socially-distanced backyard get-togethers.
Still no baby news from Ryan at press time. But worry not - even if he is otherwise engaged, his staffer Josh will be here to fill in at R & M Farms.
So many of you have been planting kitchen gardens in the Rivertowns that Homegrown Nurseries and Farm is almost sold out. This will probably be his last week at the market. We will miss seeing him and his beautiful plants (and family) at the market.
The walk-in hour is now 12 to 1 p.m. No need for a reservation just come and stand in line if there is one. Lately, there has not been one.
See you at the market!
