Dear Shoppers,

This Saturday is the THIRD Saturday of the month which can only mean two things at the HFM:

The knife sharpener will be here. And, it SHOULD BE Gleaning Day at the market, the day we ask you, our shoppers, to drop a bunch of carrots, a loaf of bread,  or a pound of potatoes into our baskets for those less fortunate among us.

Covid-19 has not affected the knife sharpener's schedule. It has, however, affected our ability to glean at the market (and so many other things that make our market a special place to be on a Saturday morning.) Right now, there is a growing demand on our local Food Pantry, but current Market safety protocols deny shoppers the opportunity to contribute “hands-on” as in the past, when our gleaning basket would overflow.

So, on this third Saturday, our first in the age of Covid, we ask that you please fill our baskets virtually.

Click the button below or, at your leisure, on our website.

DONATE NOW

The Market will use these funds to buy fresh produce and protein from our vendors to help stock the Food Pantry and literally share the wealth of our Hudson Valley bounty

as widely and fairly as possible. You know how much you enjoy our fresh food. Shouldn't those less fortunate have access to it, too?

Times are hard. Give what you can.

No donation is too small!

$5 will purchase a bag of spinach or salad mix from Sun Sprout Farm

$10 will purchase 1 pound of ground beef from R&M Farm

$20 will. purchase a couple of pints of strawberries and blueberries from Concklin's Orchards etc.

Don't forget to think about Dad (or any father figure in your life) this weekend, too.

Can't take a fishing trip right now? Buy Dad a striped bass from Pura Vida Fisheries to throw on the grill. Harlem Valley Homestead is well stocked on various cuts of steaks and fancy mushrooms to saute and smother said steaks with.

Why don't you bring your father's favorite chef's knife to get sharpened on Saturday and make sure to pick up some Don Carvajal coffee beans (and maybe a bottle of cold brew) for Sunday morning, as well as some bacon from R & M Farm for a hearty breakfast to kickstart the day.

Carve out some time for a socially-distanced hike and throw some chocolate buckwheat cookies from Bien Cuit in your backpack.

By the way, Red Barn Bakery returns this week and they are fully stocked on strawberry-rhubarb, blueberry, key lime and apple pie to cap your day. Neversink Spirits can also help with that.

See you at the market!
