July 4th
Dear Shoppers,
Yes, we are open on Saturday and happy to help you with all of your backyard bbq needs, from salads and slaws to all things grillable.
The flag-waving celebrations may feel a bit subdued this year, but that doesn't mean your holiday meal has to be. If you are a regular reader of this newsletter then you know that I like putting fruit on the grill whenever possible – especially peaches. Grilled peaches taste great with ice cream or McGrath Cheese Co.'s cultured cream but also in savory preparations like this new Melissa Clark recipe for gingery grilled chicken thighs with charred peaches.
If you are considering a picnic with your family or friends make sure to grab a saucisson sec or some pâté de Campagne from Larchmont Charcuterie and a baguette from Wave Hill Breads, along with some berries from Wright's Farm and a chickpea kale salad from True Food. Add a bottle of Rosé and you are good to go! Don't forget some buckwheat chocolate cookies from Bien Cuit for dessert. They have a distinct perk of traveling very well.
You might also consider grabbing some of the prepared food selections from Two Birds Provisions. They went away for three weeks and are returning this week with a whole new summer roster of prepared foods from bulgogi bowls, to cold soba noodle bowls to some pretty cool soup kits, decked out with local ingredients.
Bombay Chutney Co. has also made some changes. They dropped "emerald" from their name but expanded their list of offerings as well to include fresh-to-frozen Indian foods, basmati rice, gourmet curries, and a selection of curated ayurvedic spices.
Do you know why 123 Dough, our new bakery from Pound Ridge, is so named? Because they use only 3 ingredients to make their sourdough loaves which have developed a cult following in northern Westchester. They are: spring water, organic flour milled from ancient grains day of bake, and salt.
Please welcome Food is Med, a new vendor specializing in herbal teas, micro-sprouts/greens scissor trimmed to order, and Indian and other spice blends. They also sell elderberry tinctures which we could all use right now.
We are so incredibly grateful to The Riolo team at Compass for purchasing our snazzy new hand sanitizer located at the market entrance/exit. You can sanitize on your way into the market and on your way out to ensure your shopping experience is extra safe.
See you at the Market!
